GOF dismantles human trafficking syndicate, arrests 4 in Kedah and Penang operat
JITRA, Jan 17 — The General Operations Force (GOF) has dismantled a human trafficking syndicate, arresting three locals and one Myanmar national in operations in Kedah and Penang on Wednesday and Thursday.
The arrests occurred during raids in Jitra, Kedah, and Nibong Tebal, Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang.
The syndicate was led by the three locals and the foreign national.
GOF conducted the operations on Jan. 14 and Jan. 15.
Authorities have not released further details on the victims or specific trafficking activities.
The bust follows increased enforcement against human trafficking in the region.
Human trafficking remains a significant issue in Southeast Asia, with cross-border syndicates often involved.
Malaysia has strengthened laws and cooperation to combat such crimes in recent years.
GOF is expected to continue investigations and may pursue additional suspects.
