Israel warns Lebanese village of imminent strikes on Hezbollah targets
JERUSALEM, Jan 15 — The Israeli military has issued an urgent evacuation warning for residents of Sohmor village in southern Lebanon ahead of imminent air strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure, citing ceasefire violations.
"The (Israeli military) will attack Hezbollah terrorist military infrastructure in the near future," military spokesman Colonel Avichay Adraee said.
He said the strikes aim to address prohibited attempts by the group to rebuild its activities.
The warning comes despite a Lebanese military announcement last week that it had completed disarming Hezbollah south of the Litani River.
Israel has dismissed those efforts as insufficient.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office reiterated that the ceasefire "states clearly, Hezbollah must be fully disarmed."
Israel has continued regular strikes in Lebanon since a November 2024 ceasefire.
On Sunday, Lebanese media reported a series of violent Israeli strikes on several southern towns.
Areas hit included Jezzine, Mahmudiyeh, Al-Dimasqiyeh and Al-Bureij.
The Lebanese military's disarmament plan was described as the first phase of a nationwide initiative.
Israeli officials maintain that Hezbollah's continued activities violate the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
