Malaysia Customs Cuts Cost to RM2.13 per RM100 Revenue in 2025
The Royal Malaysian Customs Department has achieved a significant milestone in operational efficiency, reducing its cost to collect revenue to just RM2.13 for every RM100 in 2025. This marks an improvement from RM2.26 in 2024, as announced by Director-General Datuk Wira Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin. Speaking on Bernama TV's 'Ruang Bicara' programme in conjunction with the 44th World Customs Day, Anis highlighted that this reduction demonstrates the department's enhanced efficiency in managing government allocations and generating superior returns on investment. The total revenue collected for 2025 reached RM76.18 billion, a substantial increase of RM10.61 billion from the RM65.57 billion recorded in 2024. Concurrently, total expenditure was maintained at RM1.62 billion. This performance underscores the department's commitment to optimizing resources and strengthening fiscal contributions to the national economy under the Ministry of Finance. The continued focus on cost-effectiveness and revenue growth positions the Customs Department as a key player in supporting Malaysia's financial stability and development goals.
