One Punch Man Season 3 Criticized for Poor Animation, Weak Production
TOKYO, Jan 15 — The third season of the anime series One Punch Man has concluded with widespread criticism for its poor animation and weak production choices, described by some as a low point in the anime industry.
Produced by J.C. Staff, the 12-episode season adapts the Monster Association arc from the manga, covering the kidnapping of Waganma and the Hero Association's rescue efforts.
"After a six year wait following the conclusion of One Punch Man’s second season, calling its recently concluded third season underwhelming would be nothing short of a travesty," the review states.
The season also depicts Garou's evolution from human to monster, voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa.
Fans and casual viewers have reported that the animation quality has significantly declined, with fight sequences receiving a mixture of good and dull visuals.
"The biggest appeal of One Punch Man is how it is essentially a punch ’em up power fantasy with an array of eclectic and colourful major and minor fantastical characters," the review explains.
However, the translation from manga to anime has failed to meet expectations, despite modern animation advances.
The series lead Saitama, voiced by Makoto Furukawa, takes a backseat role this season, allowing secondary characters to shine.
Critics argue that the production choices have undermined the series' potential for excellent entertainment.
The future of the franchise remains uncertain, with concerns about possible cash-grab motivations.
