Selangor government has no alternative location for pig farm relocation besides

SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 — The Selangor government has not identified any alternative location to replace Bukit Tagar as the new site for relocating pig farms in the state, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said.

The statement came during a press briefing at the state government complex.

"We are still evaluating options, but currently Bukit Tagar remains the only viable site," Amirudin said.

The relocation plan affects approximately 45 pig farms operating in residential areas across Selangor.

Environmental impact assessments for the Bukit Tagar site are scheduled to begin next month.

The state government allocated RM50 million for the relocation project in its 2025 budget.

Previous attempts to relocate pig farms have faced opposition from local communities and environmental groups.

The current farms are concentrated in Kuala Langat and Sepang districts near residential areas.

Health authorities have raised concerns about waste management and disease control at existing locations.

The next review of potential alternative sites is expected in March 2026.
