Umno Youth delegate urges loyalty to party president, warns against external inf

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 — An Umno Youth delegate called on the wing to remain loyal to party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and avoid influence from other parties during the movement's annual general meeting.

The delegate made the statement while addressing the assembly, which brings together youth representatives from across the party.

"We must not be influenced by other parties and only follow the leadership of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi," the delegate said.

The call for unity comes as Umno, Malaysia's former long-ruling party, navigates its role in the current unity government.

Umno Youth is the party's youth wing, representing members under 40 years old.

The annual meeting typically sets the agenda for the wing's activities and political direction.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has served as Umno president since 2018.

He also holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister in the current administration.

Political analysts note that youth wing loyalty is crucial for party stability during coalition governments.
